Hangover

We had the pleasure of the company of our priest, Father John, last night. Bryan made his tilapia over applewood, I made my "biblical carrots", and for dessert I baked individual chocolate souffles.

Levi had already been messing with my stomach yesterday, but adding all that rich food has really put a strain on me. Food hangovers are never fun.

The good news is that Father was visiting to discuss Levi's birth and the surrounding questions we had regarding Melkite tradition, the details of baptism, and selecting godparents. As some may know, he had expressed concern over the name Levi and we were understandably concerned because, well, our son is Levi now - there is no going back. His concern was that in the Melkite tradition, it is the first name the patron saint is derived from - not the middle as in Roman tradition. He said, though, that we could definitely use a middle name if we'd like as the patron saint (and "life example").

He also helped shed light on selecting godparents. We have been really torn of late because we have two really great, awesome, terrific couples in the parish who we want to be religiously involved in our son's life. His suggestion, that we honestly hadn't thought of, was choosing one from each couple. Made us feel a bit, well, dumb, that it hadn't crossed our minds before.

Of course now we're lamenting over, "But who do we choooooooose?"
